Just sent off a message to the guy. But whats a fair price, and whats a dealbreaker for this kinda car. Im a MR2 newb.... "5spd, 107K miles, Brand new stage 2 clutch, Brand new tires, Interior is mint, No rust".

Kinja'd!!!

The potential dealbreaker....

""I got it a year ago used it on the weekends till I hit a deer it still runs and drives perfectly I replaced the hood and headlight couldn't find a new bumper so I got a full brand new body kit for it it has a after market exhaust sounds pretty nice its a good project must sell but wont be low balled

Once again runs and drives great just needs to be put back together""

His asking price is $1200.

I figure its at least worth a look, right? Its only about 15 miles from me so no harm in just a peek?

Lets hope he responds....

edit: The intentions of getting a car like this would be to make it a fun, autox, track beater, fun ridiculous 'becauseracecar' car. Something id feel comfortable learning in without the fear of destroying the prelude by accident or something.

Seems like low miles for an '87 anything. Check it out.

you might fall in love with it and no longer drive the prelude

Definitely worth checking out. Sound like anything that might be wrong about it is cosmetic, and fixable. 107k miles is pretty amazing. Come back with pictures!

80s get. Sounds like a decent catch, assuming the deer didn't do too much of a number on it.

Sounds like NP. Definitely worth checking out, especially if it's for a second "whatever" fun car. Keep us posted.

That is seriously cheap! Even with the accident items it sounds like a pretty good deal.

Check the distributor O-Ring. They always leak oil. Also, grab onto the engine and give it a shake to make sure the front and rear engine mounts (they mount to the transmission, actually) are all connected. Not sure if these are common problems, but my buddies MR2 was plagued with these issues. He blew out the mounts twice while doing burnouts and donuts. If someone owns an MR2 they should be doing burnouts and donuts, imo.

He says the hood latch is bent, preventing closing of the hood. He states no frame damage. But when i go look at the car, ill ask him how fast he was going when he hit it...

I should be back with lots of pics. Just gotta wait til this snowstorm passes through to go look at it. At least this is a real guy, and hes been pretty good with responding, in english too.

All very promising. Except the snowstorm part, obviously. I've only had my MR2 in snow once, and it very quickly went from all systems normal to total shitshow.

Im fully expecting to get to the car buried under snow though. SO ima bring my snow pusher thing.

Also, i dont know if the car is driveable in its current state. If its missing a bumper, i could potentially drive it home. I just dont want to have to find someone with a trailer....

Im having this irrational urge to buy this car, and DD it as a winter car for the lol's. My desire to experience something rwd is killing me. (in all seriousness, this would be a long term project to be able to do something with my dad. He told me he had driven a track prepped mr2 often back in his 20's and he said it was brilliant. And during my truck searching, i found this)

Gahh, all this talk is getting me excited. I gotta chill, i havent even seen it yet....haha.

Just bring some duct tape along, tape the hood down, and a 2x4 for the bumper. All set.
